Managing your notifications from your Account Settings
You can manage all your notifications directly from your GCconnex Account Settings page.
- Locate and click on your profile icon on top right corner of the page.
- Click on Account Settings.
- Click on Notifications tab.
Notification Digest
The notification digest can be used to receive a daily or weekly email that provides a summary of the activities to which you are subscribed. If you choose to enable the notification digest, you will no longer receive real-time (instant) notifications by email and/or on the site, about activities happening on GCconnex (with the exception of administrative-type notifications).
To enable the notifications digest:
- From the Notifications Settings page, scroll down to the “Notification Digest” section.
- Check the box next to “Enable notification digest”. Once the digest enabled, new options will appear on your screen allowing you to set your digest preferences (frequency and language preference).
- Select your digest preferences
- How often do you want to receive the digest? Select Daily to receive it every weekday morning, OR select Weekly to receive it every Monday morning.
- In which language do you want to receive the digest? Select English OR French.
- Indicate your notification preference to determine what to include in your notification digest by checking the box next to Email in your subscription options. Note: The digest will include all content selected in the 'Email' column, as well the subscriptions in the 'Other content subscriptions' section.
- Click Save to update your notification preferences.
Personal Notifications
Personal notifications allow you to subscribe to your own content (content you created/posted) or @mentions you.
To subscribe to your personal notifications:
- From the Notifications Settings page, scroll down to the “Personal Notifications” section.
- Check the box next to Email to receive emails in your email application inbox (e.g. Outlook)) and/or Site to receive messages in your GCconnex notifications inbox.
- Click Save to update your notification preferences
Colleague Notifications
The colleague notifications allow you to subscribe to your colleagues. By subscribing to your colleagues, you will be notified when they create new content and when they share that content.
Note: You will not receive notifications when your colleagues create new content within a group, unless you are also subscribed to that group.
To subscribe to colleague notifications:
- From the "Notifications Settings" page, scroll down to the “Colleagues Notifications” section.
- Click on Subscribe to your colleagues to display the a list of your colleagues.
- Check the box next to the colleague(s) you want to subscribe to.
- Click Save to update your notification preferences.
Group Notifications
Group notifications allow you to subscribe to your groups, whether you are a member or owner of the group. By subscribing to a group, you will be notified when new content is added to that group, such as a new blog post, a new discussion topic, a new Doc, etc.
You will not receive notifications for each subsequent comments/replies made on that content unless you:
- manually subscribe to the content using the bell icon;
- you post a comment about that content;
- post a reply to that content; or
- share that content.
To subscribe to group notifications (new content only):
- From the "Notifications Settings" page, scroll down to the “Groups Notifications” section.
Check the box next to Email to receive email notification and/or Site to receive messages in your GCcollab notifications inbox. This will enable notifications for all new content posted within the group.
- Click Save to update your notification preferences.
Listed under each group, you will find the group content you are subscribed to. You will also receive notifications when comments/replies are posted on that content. You are subscribed to this content either automatically or because you have manually subscribed using the bell icon.
Note: there is an option to subscribe or unsubscribe to all group notifications at once.
Other Content Subscriptions
Other content subscriptions include all other content you have subscribed to outside of groups. These content subscriptions are enabled either because you have manually subscribed using the bell icon, or because of auto-subscriptions.
To manage your other content subscriptions:
- On the bottom of the “Notifications Settings” page, you will see “Other Content Subscriptions”.
Click on the Unsubscribe button to stop receiving notifications for this content.
